What Do I Need to Know Before Signing Up for Medicare?
Today's question on the Bridlewood Insurance Medicare Minute is "What Do I Need to Know Before Signing Up for Medicare?" I’m Jeff Wetzell – President CEO of Bridlewood Insurance - where Medicare is made easy. Medicare is a health insurance designed for people above or at the age of 65, individuals with disabilities and for people of any age that have End-Stage Renal Disease (or ESRD). The first opportunity you have to eat your Medicare. Turned on begins three months prior to your sixty fifth birthday. The month of your birthday and three months after. As you've probably heard, signing up late for Medicare can result in lifetime premium penalties in addition to delays when your health coverage can begin. If you're drawing on your Social Security prior to turning 65, you will be automatically registered for both part and Part B. However, if you plan to work past the age of 65 are covered under your group insurance, it has more than 20 employees. You may want to delay the start of your Part B until you come off your group insurance. A very common mistake is being covered under your group insurance. Continuing to work past the age of 65 and turning on your Medicare. Thinking that this will keep you from receiving a late enrollment penalty. Check with your Bridlewood agent ahead of time, so we can explain all of your Medicare options and help you reach the right decision.
