"Simplifying Medicare for you - When your job ends mine Begins"

John became a Licensed Insurance Agent in both Oregon and Washington in September of 2023. He loves working and helping people and building relationships with them in the process, which is something he has done his entire career. John wants to be the trusted partner with his clients when it comes to Medicare and assisting them with their questions and needs. John offers many Medicare products but specializes in Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicare Supplement Plans, and Prescription Drug Plans.  For those just leaving the work force, his motto is “when your job ends, my job begins”.

John was born and raised on a farm in Southeastern Iowa. His father and mother wanted more opportunities for their family, so they moved to the San Fernando Valley in Southern California, where John attended Sylmar High school and was accepted into UCLA.  During his teenage years, he went back to Iowa and worked the summers on his uncle’s farm learning everything from raising pigs, cattle, sheep, as well as growing corn and soybeans. John learned to drive trucks, tractors and other farm equipment at 12 years of age.  In 2012 he was asked by his employer Velocitel to take over the management of a large wireless team in the Pacific Northwest where the office was in Portland Oregon, and he continued to work until he retired in 2022.

After college John was recruited by a Developer who was building Medical office buildings and converting apartment complexes into condominiums as a Project Manager. He was very successful in this role building 4 large medical buildings and converting 3 large (100+ unit) apartment complexes to condos during his time with them. John learned about the Real Estate business quickly and obtained his Real Estate Brokers License in California where he formed his own Real Estate firm specializing in Commercial Real Estate and Property Management. During this time of owning his own business, he was very active in the community and supporting various charities such as the Boys and Girls club where John was a member of the board of directors for 10 years,  President and board member of  Trade Club (a business organization) for 8 years, and he was the President of the Chamber of Commerce for 1 year as well as a board member for over 10 years. John owned this firm for 17 years before selling the firm so that he could go into the relatively new field of Wireless Telecommunications. He started out representing various wireless carriers representing them finding and negotiating new cell site locations in Los Angeles and Ventura County.  With this successful new experience, John was recruited to join Winstar Communications in 1999 as a sales Executive responsible for obtaining wireless leases on large office buildings in downtown Los Angeles.  Within 2 years he received recognition and awards for being the #1 sales executive (out of 305 sale executives in the US) for 2 consecutive years.   After his 3 years at Winstar, John was recruited to be an Executive Director to lead market teams that specialized in securing new leases for AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile as well as leading  construction teams to build these cell sites (which included new sites and the upgrading of existing cell towers). He was responsible for managing teams of 35-100 employees in the cities of Denver, Chicago, and the Pacific Northwest with annual Revenue budgets of $25M-$50M+ in each market. John was also responsible for obtaining new business from the wireless carriers for each market he was responsible for.  After working for over 40 years in the Real Estate and Wireless Industry, John retired in April of 2022.  Since 2018, he currently holds a General Contractors License for the state of Oregon.

While working in Portland Oregon, John met the love of his life and soulmate Laura. They have been together for 11 years and are the proud parents of four adult children who all are flourishing in their own life pursuits. With no grandchildren yet they have 4 pets/companions (2 dogs and 2 cats) who keep them busy. Laura and John love traveling especially to Italy (3 trips in 11 years) as well as going on cruises and seeing other parts of the world. They love cooking together, enjoying fine wines, music, gardening, and hosting gatherings with friends. They are also planning our future travel destinations. John also enjoys playing golf when he has the opportunity. His other favorite past time is watching football, and he loves watching his teams Buffalo and Pittsburg.
